On November 5, 2024, during the 92nd INTERPOL General Assembly in Glasgow, the ASEANAPOL Secretariat, led by Executive Director Pol. Col. David Martinez Vinluan and Director for Plans and Programmes Pol. Sr. Lt. Col. Nguyen Huu Ngoc, held a bilateral meeting with Mr. Dany Donnen, Assistant Director for Services Outreach of INTERPOL’s Information Systems Directorate. The meeting aimed to strengthen collaboration on the technical development of the electronic ASEANAPOL Database System (e-ADS), which operates on INTERPOL’s Global Communication System (I-24/7).
A key outcome of the meeting was INTERPOL’s commitment to establishing a dedicated I-24/7 VPN connection, which will enhance the stability and security of ASEANAPOL’s database system. This dedicated connection will enable the ASEANAPOL Secretariat to integrate additional tools, services, and criminal databases, thereby boosting its operational capabilities.
Discussions also focused on two critical initiatives. The first was the finalization of modules for Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) and Crime Scene Investigation (CSI), including the integration of corresponding forms and databases. The second initiative involved the development and testing of a dedicated mobile communication application to facilitate real-time data sharing and coordination among ASEANAPOL member countries.
This enhanced collaboration represents a significant milestone in ASEANAPOL's efforts to leverage technology for improved regional law enforcement cooperation. It also underscores the strong partnership between ASEANAPOL and INTERPOL in addressing transnational crime and enhancing security across the region.
