On August 14, 2024, the ASEANAPOL Secretariat, led by Executive Director Police Colonel David Martinez Vinluan, conducted a significant working visit to the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre (PULAPOL), where they were warmly received by the Commandant, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Alzafny Ahmad. The meeting was held in the Main Meeting Room at PULAPOL, located on Jalan Sultan Yahya Petra, Kuala Lumpur.
This visit was a part of a series of strategic courtesy calls initiated by Executive Director Vinluan following his assumption of office on January 1, 2024. Encouraged by the Inspector General of Police of the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP), Tan Sri Razarudin bin Husain, these visits are designed to strengthen relationships, enhance collaboration, and improve communication between the ASEANAPOL Secretariat and various departments within the RMP.
Upon arrival, the ASEANAPOL delegation was greeted by the Commandant, accompanied by key personnel including Deputy Commandant (General Policing) Superintendent Razali Mohammed Shahid, Head of Academics Superintendent Bibi Roziah Abdul Safar, and other notable officers.
The visit commenced with the ASEANAPOL delegation signing the visitor’s book, followed by opening remarks from DCP Alzafny Ahmad. In his speech, the Commandant outlined the core functions of the training centre and discussed upcoming developments in training methodologies. A detailed briefing session followed, where a representative from PULAPOL provided an overview of the centre’s history, vision, mission, and training methods, which encompass both physical training and academic instruction.
In his address, Executive Director Vinluan assured the Commandant that ASEANAPOL is committed to supporting PULAPOL in its mission to train new police personnel and those engaged in continuing education. This support can be channeled through ASEANAPOL's Dialogue Partners, Observers, and other like-minded collaborators. Additionally, he volunteered the ASEANAPOL Secretariat’s expertise and time to raise awareness among PULAPOL students about the importance of ASEANAPOL, proposing the delivery of lectures and other related activities. His speech was complemented by the presentation of the ASEANAPOL corporate video, after which he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Commandant and the training centre staff for their warm hospitality. The discussions were productive and beneficial for both parties.
The visit concluded with a guided tour of the PULAPOL Kuala Lumpur compound, further solidifying the collaborative spirit between ASEANAPOL and PULAPOL.
