On April 29, 2024, ASEANAPOL Secretariat's Executive Director, Police Colonel David Martinez Vinluan, visited the Embassy of Turky in Kuala Lumpur, where he met with the Ambassador of Turky, His Excellency Emir Salim YUKSEL.
Accompanied by key ASEANAPOL representatives, including Assistant Commissioner Police Dr. Bakri Zainal Abidin, Assistant Superintendent Police Engku Nurul Aini Engku Malik, and Assistant Superintendent Police Nithia Perumal, Colonel Vinluan's visit was warmly welcomed by His Excellency.
During the discussions, Colonel Vinluan provided a comprehensive overview of ASEANAPOL’s operations, emphasizing its role in fostering cooperation among ASEAN member countries' police organizations through capacity-building training programs. He outlined future plans to expand these initiatives into more specialized areas of law enforcement. Ambassador YUKSEL, acknowledging the pivotal role of effective law enforcement, emphasized the importance of addressing transnational crimes such as trafficking and cybercrime through strengthened international cooperation.
The dialogue also explored potential areas for future collaboration, focusing on joint training programs, information sharing, and the development of technology-driven solutions to enhance law enforcement capabilities across the region. Both parties concluded the meeting by reaffirming their commitment to deepen their partnership, agreeing to maintain open lines of communication and to schedule follow-up meetings to monitor the progress of these initiatives.
Colonel Vinluan and Ambassador YUKSEL expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the visit, which reinforced the shared commitment to the motto "Together We Keep This Region Safe." This visit not only strengthened the existing ties between ASEANAPOL and the Embassy of Turky but also set the stage for more robust and effective collaboration in the future, promising enhanced regional security and cooperation.
