ASEANAPOL Secretariat Executive Director Meets with Australian High Commissioner

On April 8, 2024, ASEANAPOL Secretariat's Executive Director, Police Colonel David Martinez Vinluan, visited the Australian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, meeting with Her Excellency Danielle Heinecke. Accompanied by key ASEANAPOL representatives, including Police Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Huu Ngoc, Deputy Superintendent Police Chan Yew Hiok, and Assistant Superintendent Police Nithia Perumal, Colonel Vinluan's visit marked his first courtesy call since assuming office three months prior.
During the meeting, Colonel Vinluan discussed ASEANAPOL's role in fostering cooperation among ASEAN member countries' police organizations, focusing on capacity-building training programs and potential collaboration with the AFP through the Jakarta Centre for Law Enforcement Cooperation (JCLEC). Her Excellency underscored the importance of law enforcement in addressing crimes like human trafficking and cybercrime. The meeting concluded with both parties expressing their commitment to strengthening the working relationship between the AFP and the ASEANAPOL Secretariat for regional security.
