On April 3-4, 2024, representatives from the ASEAN National Police (ASEANAPOL) Secretariat, including Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Suresh Subramaniam and DSP Chan Yew Hiok, participated in the launch of INTERPOL’s CT SEA Project and an information meeting for Maharlika 4 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The projects, funded by the Government of Japan, aim to strengthen collaboration among Southeast Asian nations in addressing common terrorism and security challenges. Operational activities, awareness campaigns on INTERPOL’s Biometric services, and enhanced exchange of police data and information are key components of the CT SEA Project, which will span twelve months from March 1, 2024, to February 28, 2025.
During the two-day meeting at the Courtyard by Marriot Hotel, located on Ratchadamri Road, attendees were briefed on the objectives and planned activities of the CT SEA Project for the upcoming year. Additionally, an information session was held for Operation Maharlika 4, scheduled for the latter part of 2024. This meeting aimed to strengthen coordination and interoperability among participating countries, laying the groundwork for effective regional security measures.
The participation of ASEANAPOL Secretariat personnel underscores the commitment of Southeast Asian countries to collaborative efforts in combating terrorism and ensuring regional security. These initiatives serve as vital mechanisms for fostering cooperation and addressing evolving security threats in the region.
