"Strengthening Security: ASEANAPOL & INTERPOL Unite Against Transnational Crime!"

In Singapore on April 4, 2024, the ASEANAPOL Secretariat, under Executive Director David Martinez Vinluan, joined forces with Mr. Madan M. Oberoi, Executive Director of Technology and Innovation at INTERPOL's Global Complex for Innovation, to combat Transnational Organized Crime (TOC) in the ASEAN region.
Executive Director Vinluan introduced the ASEAN National Police organization, established in 1981, emphasizing its shared membership with INTERPOL and its focus on tackling TOC in the ASEAN region. INTERPOL provided comprehensive briefings on various directorates, highlighting capacity building, innovation, and efforts to combat organized crime, financial crime, cybercrime, and global outreach.
The meeting stressed the importance of aligning collaboration with regional security agendas, particularly focusing on ASEANAPOL's priority concerning the 10 Transnational Crimes. Both parties expressed dedication to operational excellence and effectiveness in joint activities, emphasizing the need for swift and coordinated responses to emerging threats like cybercrime, terrorism, and human trafficking.
The ASEANAPOL Secretariat reiterated its commitment to strengthening collaboration with INTERPOL for the collective security of the ASEAN region and beyond. Gratitude was expressed for the opportunity to engage in meaningful cooperation, marking the start of a promising partnership in combating transnational organized crime.
