The ASEANAPOL Secretariat convened a productive meeting on April 3, 2024, with Ms. Elisabeth Potuijt of Law Enforcement Outreach APAC and relevant personnel from TikTok Pte Ltd in Singapore, with the aim of exploring collaboration opportunities between ASEANAPOL and TikTok in promoting digital safety and addressing online threats.

Recognizing TikTok's substantial influence, especially among younger demographics, participants acknowledged the platform's efforts in promoting digital safety and enforcing community guidelines. They engaged in discussions surrounding the challenges of cybercrime, online extremism, and the dissemination of illicit content, stressing the importance of collective action to protect users in the digital sphere.

The meeting brought attention to the alarming advancements in criminal modus operandi, which transcend national boundaries, posing significant threats to citizens' safety, security, and the environment. Both the ASEANAPOL Secretariat and TikTok expressed their unwavering commitment to creating a safer digital environment in the ASEAN region.
