Sentimental Journey of Kuala Lumpur Police Chief to ASEANAPOL Secretariat 28 February 2024

On 28 February 2024, ASEANAPOL Executive Director David Martinez Vinluan warmly welcomed CP Dato’ Allaudeen bin Abdul Majid, Chief of Police, Kuala Lumpur and his delegation to the Secretariat. The visit to the Secretariat is part of his sentimental journey (visit to a place that was once very familiar and that brings back memories of the past) before retirement from the police office. CP Dato’ Allaudeen bin Abdul Majid served the Secretariat as the former Head of the Administrative and Technical Services. He was also part of the team that paved the way for the establishment of the ASEANAPOL Secretariat in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia on 1 January 2010.
The ASEANAPOL Secretariat (AS) delegation included: ACP Dr. Bakri bin Zainal Abidin, Director of Police Services; Police Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Huu Ngoc, Director of Plans and Programmes; DSP Suresh Subramaniam, Plans and Programmes Officer I; and ASP Engku Nurul ‘Aini Engku Malek, Plans and Programmes Officer II while the KL Police delegation included: DCP Dato’ Azry Akmar bin Dato’ Haji Ayob, Deputy Chief of Police, Kuala Lumpur; SAC Datuk Habibi bin Hj. Majinji, Officer I Charge of Criminal Investigation, Kuala Lumpur; and ACP Kamaruzaman bin Md Alib, Deputy Head of the Intelligence and Operations, Special Branch, Kuala Lumpur.
The meeting began with Executive Director of AS providing an overview of its current structure, highlighting the organization's focus on ten core crime areas. He also presented information on the institution’s current focus on Cybercrime Training for member countries.
In response, the Chief of Police, Kuala Lumpur expressed his continued support for the ASEANAPOL. He acknowledged the need for increased collaboration and information sharing among member countries through the e-ADS. Beyond Capacity Building Training (CBT), the Chief of Kuala Lumpur also suggested expanding AS to address Trafficking in Persons (TIP) areas more comprehensively and envisioned AS becoming a prominent regional force similar to INTERPOL and EUROPOL
The meeting concluded with AS acknowledging the need to explore further avenues to enhance the utilization of the e-ADS.
Executive Director Vinluan congratulated CP Dato’ Allaudeen bin Abdul Majid on his retirement after a long and distinguished career in law enforcement. He thanked him for his service and dedication to keeping our communities safe.
